Alliance Manchester Business School: Original Thinking Applied
Alliance Manchester Business School was established in 1965 as one of the UK’s first two business schools. We are triple accredited by AACSB, AMBS and EQUIS and we are part of the prestigious University of Manchester, UK, which is home to 25 Nobel Prize winners.
Original Thinking Applied’ is at the heart of everything we do. We are ranked 2nd in the UK for research power and our influential research impacts all areas of business and management – from accounting and health management to big data and human rights.
We provide world-class, industry-focused education to undergraduates, postgraduates and executives from across the globe and our MBA is ranked 4th in the UK, 10th in Europe and 36th globally by the Financial Times (2018). Our centres in Dubai, Hong Kong, São Paolo, Shanghai and Singapore open up a world of opportunities for our students, researchers and clients.
We take inspiration from Manchester, the city we are part of. From splitting the atom and building the world’s first computer to isolating graphene, Manchester is a city of firsts. The city has a history of driving economic, political and social reform and was the birthplace of the industrial revolution, the suffragette movement and free trade.
Bringing the Manchester Method to South America
Since 2010, we have taught our Global Part-time programme in São Paulo in partnership with FGV, Brazil’s most established business school. The FGV-Manchester Global MBA is a two-year part-time MBA delivered via blended learning, with workshops in São Paulo just three times a year.
The flexible study format enables busy, ambitious executives to study a world-class MBA from a UK school in the heart of São Paulo. What’s more, candidates have the option to study up to three elective courses overseas at any of our global locations.
The programme is taught by both AMBS and FGV faculty using AMBS’ flagship Manchester Method, which focuses on group work, practice-based learning and reflection. We don’t just give you the theory; we show you how to use it to get the results you want.
The FGV-Manchester Global attracts ambitious, dynamic candidates that hold senior positions across South America and there are over 90 nationalities studying the Global MBA across our six international locations. This provides a rich source of business contacts and opportunities for South American candidates looking to do business globally.

“Studying the MBA while working was very challenging, but it was a life-changing opportunity. The Global MBA is very flexible so when you need to work more, you can work more and when you need to study more, you can study more. The highlight was the workshops; I visited the Manchester, Dubai and Shanghai centres and met people from different cultures and background.” - Hadler Favarin Martines, FGVManchester Global MBA 2016, Tax Director, PwC, Brazil |
